2009: It's Been Quite a Year!

This was a banner year for me, featuring not only the MOST cats I've rescued to date, but some of the most interesting and surprising rescues!

Some of the highlights include:

My first rescue from a Kill Shelter where I saved Huggy Mama, her two offspring, “Last Chance” Mama and her two offspring. All the cats have great homes (especially LC, who was adopted by her foster mama, Jennifer!)

Dealt with a flea infestation from Callalily and her five kittens!

Had my first trial by fire when 4 kittens from South Carolina got really sick with a URI (I know better now that it wasn't that big of a deal compared to what I'm dealing with now!)

Did my biggest rescue of nine cats from ONE shelter! All were vetted and placed in great homes in just over a WEEK!

TWEETIE! Not only socialized a feral kitten, giving him a shot at an easy life with a family, but got him adopted by the “Internet's Most Famous Cat”-Sockington!

Will the cat who was hit-by-car in South Carolina, with no hope to be rescued, I lucked out, wrote a few emails and not only got him help, but ended up bringing him to Connecticut to be adopted by our most marvelous CiCH friend, Clare!

Helped matchmake some geriatric kitties into loving homes and found a forever home for an abandoned kitty in South Carolina named Dolly.

Helped get the word out on Dewey, the Orange Kitty who was abandoned at my Vet's office. He was finally adopted by Dr. M!

Fostered, rescued, cared for and found homes for about 50 cats and kittens! (One, Dewey, I don't count since I didn't foster him, but he is shown below and, of course, my sick kitties aren't adopted just yet.)

It's been quite a year, with many great highlights. With any luck, next year will be just as great, if not better!

Happy New Year!

We have spent our NYE so far giving Sunny a bath.
This is the second orange cat I have owned who seems to
have gotten left out on the grooming gene. The hair!
He is always getting matts under his arms and such.
Now he won't talk to me! He is pretty annoyed.

Hope you manage to get some rest and that kitties are getting better!
I love the photos and it is amazing to see all the kitties that you saved!
I am sure they are all sending you their love and wishes for a wonderful 2010.

Hugs,
Michelle

Awesome!!

Whenever you feel down, read this post and look at those beautiful faces - you saved their lives!! Don't give up, this too will pass.

Please don't forget all of the kitty's that you indirectly saved too!

Who could not love those beautiful faces of these lovely creatures. Makes me want to give them all a home myself, but my existing feline family of 3 wouldn't be happy about it! You're doing great work

Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work. :)

What a focus on the positive, Robin! Congratulations!! I know it's been rough, but just look at those faces! Keeping the kittehs and you in purrayer as we enter the new year! Wishing you peace!

Got here from Tweetie's twitter account to go "aww" at all the lovely kitties. You're doing amazing work, thank you! :)

Awwww, well done with all those cuties! I follow "Sockelganger" on Twitter, and although he is a very cute kitten, ALL of the above are sooooo precious! :)

They are all so lovely, but who is that at the bottom right with the most beautiful green eyes?

She was one of "santa's team" that just came up from GA. I only had her for 24hrs before she was adopted into a great, loving home. She is such a sweet and beautiful cat, I could not get over that she could not get adopted! For a cat like that to be at risk for being PTS, it really says a lot about how overcrowded that shelter is.

What Beautiful little beasties. God bless the rescuers!!

Congratulations on a job well done and with such caring. If only people would spay/neuter their cats we wouldn't be needed in this way. You do a wonderful job. Thank you for caring so much.

Wow Robin! Just looking at the pictures of all those beautiful, gorgeous cats that you saved and re-homed, has made me cry. You have had a year of it! Some very hard parts, some struggles, some real bravery needed (I'm thinking plane trips here...). You've been brave, true and big-hearted and made such a huge difference. I pray you will have a wonderful 2010 and that life will treat you well.

thank you for your wonderful work! these beautiful cats were all given a second chance thanks to YOU!

Robin, you have done such a beautiful job with all these little souls. Surely you'll have special mention at those Pearly Gates someday for your dedicated work!

And as a very small Christmas thought, because my big FIV+ foundling brown tabby baby JackJack (11 lbs of solid cat at eight months--he's a keeper!) just brought me one so we can play "fetch," the next time you are at your favorite pet shop, pick up a yard or so of aquarium tubing. Cut lengths of it about 4" long, tie a knot in the middle of each, and toss to the felines: instant cheapo fun toys! They find them, flip them around, chase them, lose them, and find them again. Fun! You could thread a little piece of bright yarn or ribbon in there before tying for a bit of color if you wish.

Awesome job! I love Tweetie! Have five foster kittens myself, had SEVENTEEN this summer- yikes! One had a corneal ulcer and pneumonia and is now Queen Boss of the other kittens. Keep up the good work!

Thank goodness the world has people like you in it! You are a kitty angel!

With that amazing array of kitties saved, there is also sweet Zabby, whose rescue you helped find and coordinate. She was my first introduction to the situation in Georgia pounds.

Yes! Zabby was my FIRST out of state rescue! How could I forget that one? Thanks for the reminder! It seems so long ago, now!

;-)

You are an amazing person and I so appreciate all that you do for our furry friends.

Bless your heart!

Sally
Gatz and Hemi (teh kittehs)

Looking at all of these pics brought tears to my eyes..the good kind!!!

You have done a remarkable job saving all these kitties and adding joy to the lives of the adopters in their forever homes. It is truly a blessing for everyone involved.

Thank you and bless you Robin >^..^

Wow, you can look back and feel good about yourself! So far I have only fostered 11 cats (and i thought I was helping!). I wish i had more space and could rescue/foster more kitties (live in a NYC 1 bedroom apartment).
I can't believe TWEETIE was your kitty-cat! OMG he is soooo cute! I can't believe how much he looks like SOCKS! Did you see the "cousin oliver" video they made when he arrived at the house? ADORABLE!
Is that him on the right 5 down from the top?
T

You are correct. That's Tweetie!

Hey, it's not how many you save, it's that you got involved at all. Every saved life counts!
