The Tweetie Chronicles: The A Word!

At last! Word has come in to CiCH HQ that Sockington, and Penny (with great reluctance) have decided to move forward and make Tweetie's "visit" a permanent one. Yes, I can finally announce that

TWEETIE IS ADOPTED!

I heard from a reliable source that Socks will sit outside Tweetie's room and wait for him to come out, instead of hiss or run off and hide whenever he sees the little guy. I believe that Socks actually misses the him when they're apart!

The photo that started it all...along with it a simple question; "Are you my daddy?"

Tweetie will undergo a name change at some point. We're not sure what it will be or when it will be announced, but rest assured, as soon as I know, you'll know, too.

Congrats, Tweetie! I'm sure I'll see you again on one of your Twitter Pages or on Sockington's web site or on TV or in a Book! Shoot! I knew I shoulda gotten your autograph before you left here!

UPDATE: Looks like the rumors are NOT true. Tweetie's name has NOT BEEN CHANGED TO, Oliver or Cousin Oliver! It's a character reference from the Brady Bunch, not his new name.

You did such a wonderful job with this kitten! I hope your proud of yourself! =D

It just goes to show you what a little love can do....

...together. Saw the "Million Follower" Movie, and Tweetie and Socks crack me up with Tweetie's serial assaults and Sock's apparent resignation and fatigue. Hope Penny is not too inconvenienced. You should be very proud of your work with that kitten. Just think...he could be frolicking around the sanctuary, fending for himself (more or less), instead of being a celebrity living in the lap of luxury.

It must be so satisfying every time one of your fosters gets a good, loving, forever home. As a 'mom' of five furbabies, I just want to thank you, and people like you, who work so hard to rehabilitate and socialize these wild kittens. Tweetie has a forever home because of the hard work you did with him. Foster parents don't get enough credit, and I just want you to know you're valuable and very appreciated.

Penny made reference in a Tweet about Little Oliver. Perhaps that's the new name?

I didn't do all the work, but I sure did step out of my comfort zone to speak up for him and to take on the responsibility for him if things did not work out. He easily could have had to be released even after all this...so I cross my fingers it worked out. I'm honored that you guys think so kindly of me, but I'm just part of the equation. Our Director had to work with the man who found him and she had to set the traps and see to it that Tweetie and his siblings got the medical care they needed. He was already on his way to being socialized when I got him,he was just, errr...not all that interested in following my lead! LOL!

I just heard that Tweetie was found sleeping in the sink in "his room" and Socks was sleeping on the floor, just outside the doorway as if he was Tweetie's guardian OR he wanted to make sure when his new friend woke up, that he would have play time again!

Wooohooo great news! Well done to all involved, the news really made my morning!

As I write this, Tweetie is chasing a bottlecap (plastic from a water bottle, not a sharp metal one) around my feet. I'm sorry we didn't make it clearer sooner, Robin - he's definitely bonded with Socks, and we couldn't possibly give him up! But I'm not feeling the "Oliver" thing. Although he does kind of have the "please sir, I want some more" look in the picture above.

Socks was meowing outside of Tweetie's room this morning, demanding that I let his little buddy out to play. And he even gave Tweetie a couple of licks (before Tweetie did a typical little kid thing and wriggled away and then tried to attack him). I think once Tweetie gets past the "Can I eat it? No? Well... can I jump on it a lot and *then* eat it?" kitten stage, the two of them will be snuggly friends.

Tweetie says hi! Well, to be honest, he says "please rescue the bottle cap from under the filing cabinet!" but after that, I'm sure he'd like to say hi. :)

I feel all swoony! Glad to hear all is working out well. I'd think Tweetie would be able to run free by now, but you know what's best for the little dude. I'm SO GLAD he and Socks have bonded!!! I would hope one day Penny will "like" him, too, but it will take time.

It seems like Socks got something he really wanted that he might not have been able to get from Penny—a buddy to play with? Keep us posted as to how things are going and let us know when you find the right name so we can post it accurately here! As you can see, above, I updated my post with the correction re: Oliver. I'm sure whatever name you choose will be cool!

Thanks for letting us know how things are going!
:-)

Pennycat called him Oliver, but that's just a reference to Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch, the little kid brought in to save the show with cuteness.
