Not on My Watch: Mystery Solved!

Last week I posted a photo on our Facebook page of a lovely orange persian/mix kitty. Some folks thought it was Phillip, who I rescued not long ago, but they were wrong. Phil is NOT quite so orange and Phil is not a female!

This is Tiger. She was rescued by a very nice lady named Deb P. Deb must spend a zillion dollars a year funding the rescue of many cats and kittens in need. Deb helped with the initial funding for Cara and her family, the fosters I STILL have at my home. The other day, Deb contacted me to see if I could take this lovely lady and find her a forever home.

Deb already had Tiger vetted, shaved down because her fur was badly matted AND Deb paid for Tiger to get her teeth cleaned, too! Tiger is a few years old, declawed, spayed and very sweet. How she ended up in a kill shelter is beyond comprehension.

How could I say NO to her?

So I said, YES!

Tiger will be here in a few weeks. Being that “ginger” females are somewhat unusual-only 1 in 3 ginger cats are female; I think Tiger will find a good home easily.

Tiger will enjoy a diet change, which will help her slim down and allow her coat to grow back in beautifully, too. I think she'll be a knockout and whoever adopts her will be very lucky, indeed

We just gotta come up with a better name for her! What would you name her? Okay, and not Lucky, either, even if that's true!

Ginger - like Ginger from Gilligan's Island. :) She is beautiful! Good luck pretty girl!!

I had a ginger mama foster and called her Tiger Lily because of her coloring which looked so much like the wild daylilies blooming this time of year. :-)

I think Ginger suits her.. but you do come up with some unusual names, so will watch and see other suggestions :)
She is a lucky lady cat!!

Way to go Robin! You & Deb are awesome women!
As far as a new name for her - I was wondering what's wrong with naming her "Ginger"? She looks like she holds herself (top photo) like a movie star (Ginger from Gilligans Isle) so perhaps she has that attitude as well?

I'm looking forward to reading about her. Thanks again for giving her hope and a new life

Rita would be a nice name for Tiger as she would be named after another "older" redhead.

Boadicea (or more correctly it is now spelled Boudica), Celtic warrior queen who led a revolt against the Romans, almost always depicted as a redhead!!

I agree. Ginger IS a great name! Think of her as a feline version of Ginger on Gilligan's Island! And she's been rescued off the island at last!

Clementine - like the little oranges. :)

Good to see the pretty girl has a new lease on life!

Ginger isn't bad, particularly here in the US where it is not the ubiquitous and overused term for redheads like it is in the UK. But if you want some other suggestions:

Brigid -- Nice name for a dignified gal; also, the Goddess Brigid had flame-red hair.

Pele -- Goddess of fire

Plenty of Irish names as an option, too: Mairaid, Aisling, Saoirse (sors-sha), means Freedom ...

Good luck with the newest foster!

How about Tiger Lily? She's about the right colour and exotic enough! Bless all of you for recscuing these gorgeous animals.

We have 4 cats, two toms were strays that found their way into our garden and into our hearts. Maxi's family were struggling with allergy issues so she came to us and finally Emmy was from a no-kill shelter. All have found a happy forever home and we have gained so much from them being in our lives.

I would call her Ginny Weasly (Harry Potter). Or just 'Ginny'. ;)

Our one eyed ginger girl is named Esperanza, which means hope. She wouldn't mind sharing her name.

Tiger-Lily
