Not on My Watch: Adopt a Panther!

In the south, the black cats are the first to be euthanized. No one wants them. Even if there is new research showing that black cats actually may have better genetics and live healthier lives and that they are notoriously friendly cats, the old stigma of being “bad luck” or evil is a tough one to shake.

This beautiful, friendly creature looks more like a small panther than a housecat. She had kittens, but none were to be found. She is full of milk and is an intact female. She is available to ANYONE for adoption. You do NOT NEED A GA LICENSE TO ADOPT HER, BUT YOU HAVE TO PICK HER UP & PAY CASH FOR HER ADOPTION or have someone adopt her for you on your behalf.

THE INFORMATION, BELOW IS DIRECTLY FROM HENRY CO CARE & CONTROL in McDONOUGH, GA.:

----------------------------------------

PLEASE REFER TO THIS ID# 6/22-2455 WHEN YOU ASK AFTER THIS CAT.

It is so rare that a black cat gets adopted from us.....unless of course it goes to my house :-)

This gorgeous young girl came in full of milk but we have no idea where her babies are. Sadly no one has come for her and she will be chosen first to go down since black cats never make it out.

Please help us save her life. She is totally awesome.

She will not be held past Wednesday June 30th and will go down Thursday July 1st if rescue cannot be found (or if an adopter does not take her)

We are very rescue friendly and are more than happy to work with any rescue group as long as the group has a valid Georgia Department of Agriculture license! Any rescue group, whether in or out of state, that takes pets from Georgia shelters, is required, by Georgia law, to have a rescue license issued by the Georgia Department of Agriculture's Animal Protection Division. Having tax exempt status is not the same as a license. For more information on obtaining a license, please call (404) 656-4914.

'nuff said.

Black cats are my #1 favorite...it's so sad that they aren't wanted for such a silly reason. Rayne has brought me nothing but GOOD luck since she came into my life...I hope someone takes this pretty girl home before it's too late :(

She will also mention it in her newsletter, which is going out tomorrow, and post it on her FB midday tomorrow (if it gets posted now, it'll get lost in the newsfeed overnight). If I can think of anything else I will - THIS KITTY MUST BE SAVED!

I live in California and I own a 'rescued from the streets' black cat. Good Lord...are people really so backward that black cats are put down because of stupid superstitions? This horrifys me. I hope that sweet pretty lil' girl gets a forever home.

:o(

My family (on both sides, males and females) have always loved ALL cats, and I carry that tradition on proudly; while I love all cats, I've always had a special admiration and love for the black ones, who I consider the most beautiful of all. Praying this beauty finds her loving, forever home, which EVERY cat so richly deserves; and will share the information about her on my social networking pages. Thank you for sharing with us, and for informing us (again!) of the unique beauty and wonderful qualities of the House Panther.

What a beautiful cat. She reminds me of one I lost years ago, such a friendly one!! Her fur looks thick and lustrous too. I'm homebound so I can't get her, but I wish I could.....

She looks a lot like Luna, a thin black cat with green eyes. She looks so healthy and beautiful, I hope she gets adopted. Will retweet and repost.

Posted on two blogs including the IBKC. I don't know anyone in Georgia personally but I can't do nothing. Please tell us good news about her.

Have you heard anything, Robin? Tomorrow is her last day and I'm worried!

I just found out about this beautiful girl's sad plight. I copied your post directly & reposted on mu blog to help get the word out - hope that is alright!!

I had a beautiful black kitty up until a few months ago & can't even fathom ANYONE being that superstitious/stupid these days. I hope this beautiful girl get a home quickly!!

~Cory (Nico, Simon & JayJay) :)

I live in Texas or I would happily foster or adopt this cat. (Even though my husband probably wouldn't speak to me for bringing home another cat!) What I can do, however, is offer some financial assistance to support this kitty if someone is willing to foster her until she can be adopted. Anyone interested?

Emailed your post verbatim to as many people as possible and asked them to spread the word. I'm praying the power of the interwebs comes through.

Just an update for anyone visiting. It looks like the black kittie is saved. (whoo hoo)

Jan's Funny Farm seems to have done the rescue honors.

We just thought people might want to know how things worked out.
