About My Cats

My Cats

Siouxsie, adopted in May of 1996 at the age of 6 weeks (I didn't know better back then), a gorgeous and shiny black cat enjoying the rewards of her Top Cat status and 15 years--as of this writing--on planet Earth. She and her late sister Sinéad put up with my obtuseness and inspired me to learn as much as I could about cats and cat care.

Thomas, "a 2001 model" gray tabby with white boots and mittens and stomach, adopted from a local animal rescue league at the age of 3. He was a very sick little guy when I first met him, suffering from a URI and a broken heart. I fell in love with him and visited him as often as I could until he was cleared for adoption.

Dahlia, adopted from another local animal rescue in September of 2006, about a month after Sinéad died. I was told Dahlia was a 12-week-old male, but she turned out to be a very tiny 5-month-old female. My vet said she'd probably never get bigger than 6 pounds, but now she's a full-size, 8-pound kitty.

Thomas and Dahlia are best buddies, and they constantly snuggle together and groom one another. Siouxsie pretends she disdains all this cuddly silliness, but she spends a lot of time snuggling with me. Lately, Siouxsie has even been seen snuggling with Dahlia and allowing both Thomas and Dahlia to curl up around her.
