A Few of My Favorite Things

Interests

cats, all animals in general, animal welfare, music, travel (particularly Europe, especially England), writing, earrings, socks, enjoying nature in a lazy fashion, spending my savings on whims so that I might live my future in poverty, photography (which I must stress is an interest, but not a talent)

Movies and Television

TV: The Soup, House, Dinner Impossible, Iron Chef America, Top Chef (and no, I don't cook - I just watch it on TV), History Channel (except war stuff), Arrested Development, Cell Dogs, House Hunters
Movies: I'm a sucker for BBC period romance movies. My favorite movies are Mistress Pamela (romantic comedy), Dangerous Beauty (romance/drama), Wings of Desire (beautiful, surreal), Fanny (romance), Another Country (Brit drama starring too many beautiful men to mention), Bridget Jones, Tommy (great musical), Annie Hall

Yes, I Read, Too!

All the Georgia Nicolson books (by Louise Rennison), Lorrie Moore, Mutts series, Thomas Hardy, The Rainbow by DH Lawrence, Ian Fleming, Dorothy Parker, various non-fiction books on subjects that interest me or for research for my writing, Mr Winkle (okay, it's just pictures, but they are books)
Magazines: Best Friens and Uncut (British music mag)

The Sound of Music

This is going to be hard to limit myself. I love music and my tastes are all over the place.
Kate Bush, Bernard Butler, Placebo, David Bowie, Beautiful South/Housemartins, Starsailor, Jeff Buckley, Scissor Sisters, Spice Girls, Verve, Air, Grant Lee Phillips/Buffalo, Alison Moyet/Yaz, Cure, Duran Duran, Barry Manilow, Suede, Faith No More, Bee Gees, NIN, Bush, The Call, James, Duffy, Pink Floyd, Take That, Partridge Family, Jam, Gay Dad, Waterboys, Oasis, Rolling Stones, The The, Joan Armatrading, Roxy Music, October Project, Longpigs, Massive Attack, Ministry, Neil Young, Wolfsheim, and Broadway musicals. And this is just to name a few. I have a huge music collection.

About My Cats

My Cats

- Spencer - Nine years old. She's been with me for 8 years, after being removed from an abusive situation where she left physically and emotionally scarred. She's a Maine Coon Mix brown tortie with one peach-colored paw and a peach chin. She's extremely sweet and loving, but terrified of all humans but me.
- George Henry - He just turned four. Short for Sir George Henry Crumblebum III. A long story, dating back to the Mad King George's mad cat George. I'll spare you the details. He's all black except for a white crest on his chest. He found me one night when I was out feeding my feral colony. He just showed up and wanted nothing but attention. He was missing hair over 2/3 of his body and had severe diarrhea for 5 months. He's now luscious and healthy and extremely bizarre. He's the opposite of Spencer. He LOVES people and loves to go out for walks on his leash and has his own fan club, including the Bridgeport Fire Department.
- Syd Vicious - He is 3 years old, a former feral, a brown tabby. He is named after Sid Vicious and Syd Barret, because he is a crazy %&!@. But a very lovable and sweet %&!@. Just don't become too attached to your limbs around him, because he certainly will become attached. Is it okay to mention that there has never existed a more penis-obsessed male in the history of the world? And yes, he's neutered. But don't tell him that. Not that he'd hear you with his head stuck so far between his legs.
- Buttercup - She's 1 and 1/2 years old, another former feral, although I use the word 'former' very loosely. She's a gray tabby. She's completely domesticated except for the part about liking the human she lives with. And she's fat.
- Lolita - The newest addition, as if I needed more. She's 3 years old, all black and all feral. I've been feeding her as part of a feral colony since she was just a couple of months old. Due to recent management changes in the building where I live, the ferals were ordered removed. So Lolita (a slut prior to spaying) now lives with me. I love her, but the feeling is not mutual.
